Local Chapter History

The Sigma-Mu Chapter is the 375th chapter of the Kappa Sigma Fraternity, and is located at Colorado Mesa University (CMU) in beautiful Grand Junction, Colorado. The Chapter was chartered on January 26, 2013, making it the ninth Kappa Sigma Chapter within the state of Colorado. Additionally, it became

the first officially recognized Greek organization on Colorado Mesa University's campus.

Since 2013, the Sigma-Mu Chapter has made it a point to excel within every facet of the University's campus, with some examples including: The Club Advisory Board, Associated Student Government, and Future Business Leaders of America (Phi Beta Lambda). The Chapter strives to exemplify the ideals of Kappa Sigma, fostering an environment that encourages personal growth, as well as fraternal feeling amongst it's undergraduate brothers and alumni.

This culture is not rare within The Kappa-Sigma Fraternity, as all undergraduate brothers, both individually and collectively, work toward the betterment of their campus and their community as a whole. An act which resulted in over 1,700 hours of service and over $5,000 in charitable donations for the 2015 academic year from these young men.

Most recently, the Sigma-Mu chapter has worked to achieve 200% proficiencies in the ritual of Kappa Sigma, and has won various awards including: Most Improved Chapter, & Top 25 Recruitment Chapter; as well as individual awards for Outstanding Undergraduate Officers & Alumni Volunteers. The Sigma-Mu Chapter also serves as a "Jackson's Chapter," meaning that every year the brothers of the Sigma-Mu chapter donate to the Kappa Sigma Endowment fund, which provides undergraduate brothers with scholarships for achievements.
